Wall Mural (The Student Hotel Amsterdam West)

I was asked by The Student Hotel in Amsterdam West to create a wall mural. The concept is about the inception of an idea and was inspired by one of the hotel’s mottos “May The Student In You Live Forever”. I personally see this as “may you always have the curiosity to learn and ideate. Ideas are the birthchild of past experiences, stories, and things we’ve seen or heard before. With that in mind, the story of the mural starts. On the bottom left, an arrow symbolizing a stimulus goes through the eye and triggers the brain wires and emits energy. With that, the journey of an idea starts. Going through your mind and then your heart, fusing your thoughts and passions. I used elements such as a hill with the sunrise to show newness. The structure below shows deeply rooted beliefs. The gears and wires eventually turn and trigger the bulb to light up, a classic indication to a Eureka moment!
